FAQ

  • Is YFGM part of Britain Yearly Meeting?
    • Yes, YFGM is part of Britain Yearly Meeting, and we send a representative to Meeting for Sufferings (which is the decision making body), just like area meetings from around Britain. However, YFGM is also a separate charity in its own right, and is entirely run by our members / Young Friends. See Meeting for Sufferings Video to explore more.

  • Can I come to a YFGM gathering if I am not a Quaker?
    • Yes! YFGM actively encourages all friends to come along.
  • How much does it cost to come to a YFGM gathering?
    • It costs an average of £75 per person to run each gathering, which covers food for the weekend, various necessary expenses, and money for the Quaker Meeting House. We ask everyone who attends to pay what you can towards this, according to your income. We ask everyone to pay at least £15, and some local and area meetings will contribute towards the cost of attending.
    • If you’re not able to pay this, money should never be a reason to stop you coming to a YFGM gathering. If you are unable to come to an event, please contact the treasurer to put in a claim for bursary support. You can email the treasurer at treasurer@youngfriends.org.uk
