Statement on the Impact of Covid-19 from the Trustees of YFGM

Due to the ongoing Public Health Emergency ,the Trustees  of YFGM have taken the decision that the upcoming  planning weekend, which was due to be held in Swansea, will not take place.

If members have made travel or accommodation bookings and can’t get a refund they will be able to claim their expenses. YFGM ask that members contact the  Finance Trustee or Treasurer (yfgm.generalfund.treasurer@gmail.comyfgm.finance.trustee@gmail.com) to sort this out. We are hoping to host an online planning weekend over the same weekend but have no plans as of how this will happen yet. We will have a plan by the end of the month regarding this.

Trustees have also made the decision the  YFGM gathering in May will not be happening as the pandemic is likely to reach it’s peak at the time this event was scheduled for.

Dependent on the ongoing situation trustees are looking at if we can host an alternative simple/stripped back meeting in the summer for essential business items and community time or the feasibility of having an online business meeting. We will deliver more information on this as soon as possible. If members have made travel or accommodation bookings and can’t get a refund they will be able to claim their expenses. We ask that they contact Finance Trustee or Treasurer (on their YFGM emails) to sort this out.

We understand that this will be a disappointment to many Friends but we hope that the community can continue to use online methods to contact and support each other whilst we are all affected by the Covid-19 virus. Lots of members of YFGM have been using the discord server to communicate in real time and we encourage as many as possible to join if you can.

You can find more information about pastoral support available to members of YFGM  during this time on our Facebook group. You can find more support and resources for Young Adult Quakers on these pages from Britain Yearly Meeting.
