In response to Bea Shelley’s article, I’d like to share my experience as a more or less complete ‘failure’. I’m nearly 47, have been single all my life, never owned any property, and, despite two university degrees, I live a hand-in-mouth existence as a part-time Meeting House Warden. Interestingly though, I’ve never been as contented and happy in my life as now, feeling that I’ve finally arrived to be the person I’m meant to be (instead of trying to be the person I – or others – thought I was meant to be).
